Herbert St Scarborough street history

Updated: Nov 26, 2022

A street history of Herbert St Scarborough from aerial photos taken in 1942, 1956 and 1989.

One of the earliest streets, possibly named for Frederick Herbert, a licensed victualler and proprietor of the Bay View Hotel in Scarborough in the 1920s. The Herbert family lived in Scarborough and Fred erected a jetty at Reef Point Scarborough in about 1927. Fred also bought a "beautiful 666 Model A six cylinder Sedan 7 seater Willys-Knight Car, replete with all the latest devices"
